We review optimization models used in the synthesis of ATM-based¨ broadband networks. Standard packet- and circuit-switching¨ techniques are described and related to virtual-circuit switching.¨ Call acceptance control methods based on equivalent bandwidth are¨ discussed in the context of network synthesis. Equations will be¨ presented and discussed.
