- SC16.1
Hub & Spoke System Design with Concave Costs Turgut Aykin, Kemal Gursoy --- Rutgers Univ., Grad. Sch. of Mgmt., 180 University Ave., Newark, NJ 07102 , (aykin@andromeda.rutgers.edu)
- We discuss the hub-&-spoke system design problem together with a¨ number of popular networking policies and effects of continuous¨ scale economies, demand and market domination. Several variations of¨ the problem along with various aspects of air passenger and cargo¨ transportation systems are considered. Computational results will be¨ presented.
- SC16.2
Hub Location & Network Design James F. Campbell --- Univ. of MO, Sch. of Bus. Admin., 8001 Natural Bridge Rd., St. Louis, MO 63121-4499, (campbell@sierra.umsl.edu)
- In many transportation and telecommunication networks, flows are¨ concentrated on certain arcs and through certain nodes to take¨ advantage of economies of scale. We explore the design of these¨ networks and the location and role of hub facilities in these¨ networks.
- SC16.3
Modeling Variation in Hub Network Design Bahar Yetis Kara, Barbaros C. Tansel --- Bilkent Univ., Dept. of IE, 06533 Bilkent, Ankara, , Turkey (kara@bilkent.edu.tr)
- Hub-&-spoke systems arise when it is advantageous to consolidate¨ flows at certain accumulation points in many-to-many distribution¨ networks. We focus on modeling aspects of the hub network design¨ problem and identify features that lead to alternate forms of¨ analysis.
