We
will quickly describe the basics of Hiview and Equity and
then focus on two main areas. Firstly, in Hiview, verbal judgments
using MACBETH will demonstrate the ability to create a model
without numerical input. Secondly, in Equity, we will show
how trade-offs are used for portfolio tuning.

Release 13 and Quality Companion
We will present a basic introductory demo of MINITAB Release
13 and Minitab Quality Companion. MINITAB is statistical analysis
software, whereas the Quality Companion is more of a project
management tool. The Quality Companion contains some soft
tools like Process Mapping, FMEA, etc. that MINITAB doesn't
contain. Quality Companion is a fairly new package that just
came out this year.

Overview
of @RISK and StatTools
We will give an overview of two powerful Excel add-ins: @RISK
and StatTools. @RISK uses Monte Carlo simulation to show you
nearly all possible outcomes and account for uncertainty in
your spreadsheets. StatTools replaces Excel's statistics with
new robust statistical functions and allows you to easily
write your own custom statistical procedures.

and Enhanced Features
We will be demonstrating the newest release of MPL with many
new enhancements to help solve real-world optimization problems.
The speed and scalability of the model generation has been
greatly enhanced and with the new 64-bit Itanium version capable
of solving much larger models than ever before. Several new
solvers (COIN, GLPK, LGO) have been added and existing solvers
updated (CPLEX, XPRESS, XA, CONOPT). Data access has been
improved with new native drivers (ORACLE, ADO) and offers
now full XML/SOAP support for Internet connectivity.

Probabilistic
Dynamic Simulation Using GoldSim
GoldSim is a Windows-based probabilistic, dynamic simulation
tool designed for building hierarchical models of complex
systems to support strategic planning and risk management
in business, engineering and science. The software can simultaneously
address both continuous and discrete dynamics, and propagates
uncertainty using Monte Carlo simulation. The probabilistic
simulation philosophy on which the software is based will
be discussed. Attendees will learn how GoldSim is different
from other approaches (e.g., discrete event simulation, system
dynamics, spreadsheets), and the kinds of problems to which
the software can be applied. The key features and capabilities
of the software will be demonstrated.
