Guidelines for Submission

As the premier OR/MS conference, INFORMS Annual Meeting 2010 invites submissions in all areas of the field, broadly defined. We particularly invite submissions in areas that illustrate the use of OR/MS in keeping with the theme “Energizing the Future.”

Two Presentation Formats: Talk or Poster/Display
You can submit an abstract to present your work in two formats: a talk as part of a session, or a poster/display presentation as part of an Interactive Session. Talks within a session are typically 15-20 minutes in length, with 4-5 talks in a session (a session is 90 minutes). Sessions are scheduled from Sunday through Wednesday, and the scheduling of your talk is determined by the Organizing Committee. Interactive Sessions are scheduled during the middle of the day on Monday and Tuesday; the presentation day for your poster/display is determined by the Organizing Committee.

Submit Online for Both Formats
Submit your abstract for a talk or poster/display using the online submission. Only one contributed abstract is accepted from the same presenting author. However, the Committee will occasionally allow a talk and a poster/display on two different topics from the same author. If you are interested in this option, please email: ellen.tralongo@informs.org.

  • To submit an abstract for a talk, select three keywords in the “Topic Area” to assist the Committee in scheduling your talk.
  • To submit an abstract for a poster/display within the Interactive Sessions, select “Interactive Session” (#061) in the “Topic Area.”

Submission Deadlines – Submit Early, Capacity Limited!
May 17 – Abstracts for talks (please note the caution below)
Sept. 10 – Abstracts for poster/display (Interactive Sessions)

Caution: In recent years, the INFORMS Annual Meeting has grown significantly, making it difficult to accommodate all the talks submitted. It may be necessary to accept submissions in the order in which they are received if there is not sufficient capacity to schedule all the talks submitted by May 17. Therefore, we encourage you to submit early, well before the May 17 deadline. If space is no longer available for talks, authors will be given the option of moving their submission to an Interactive Session (poster/display).

Schedule for Your Presentation
Once the Organizing Committee has scheduled the program for talks, the schedule will be posted on the conference web page. The preliminary date for posting is August 2 (this date may change, so please check back to this page). All authors will receive an e-mail directing them to the online program for the date and time of their presentations, registration, A/V, hotel information and other speaker guidelines. The Interactive Sessions schedule will be posted on October 8.

Registration Required to Present; Visa Information
All attendees, including authors and session chairs, must register and pay the registration fee. If you need an early confirmation for visa or budgetary reasons, please indicate this in the “Comments” field on the online submission form.
