WA07.1 Web Technology Learning Curve for Electronic Commerce: Implications for Research & Practice

The Internet and its offspring technologies continue to change the rules by which the business is run and it is evident that successful businesses are motivated to keep up with such technological advancement. We describe how Web technologies are adopted for enhanced competitiveness in EC.

WA07.2 Resource-Based Theory & Electronic Commerce

EC is changing the way business is conducted. By doing so, it has the potential to improve the competitivness of organizations. Resource-based theory offers a possible explanation of how organizations might use their resources to maximize the benefits of EC applications and thus, compete more successfully.

WA07.3 Firewalls as Part of Secure Electronic Transaction

Network security aspects in terms of firewall routers will be discussed. We focus on the SET standard and what it has to offer to Internet security. As a result, practical tools to further develop telecommunication systems will be provided. This pioneer study is conducted in a practical environment by using quantitative methods.

WA07.4 The Opportunities & Risks of Electronic Commerce

Electronic commerce can produce benefits and risks for organizations. Examples of benefits include reduced purchasing and inventory costs. Examples of risks are lack of security and vulnerability to legal action. The need to study such benefits and risks is becoming more crucial as new information technologies become increasingly available.
