Real-world Skills for Decision Analysts and OR/MS Professionals

Held in conjunction with the INFORMS Practice Conference, this workshop provides information and practice in using the “soft skills” needed to work with people to employ the techniques of operations research and management science.

This popular workshop has been held for several years. This year’s workshop will allot more time to the exercises, so should be a great experience even for previous attendees. The new all-day format will emphasize following a case study through the phases of an analysis project.

Who should attend: Those who employ operations research/management science techniques. Anyone interested in developing their interpersonal or group facilitation skills. A basic understanding of operations research/management science topics is assumed for workshop participants.

Framing/Definition of a problem
Team forming
Interviewing for data gathering

Lunch Break


Group elicitation
Client interaction
