Off-Site Dinner Tours

All attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for ONE of the following off-site tours during the registration process at no extra cost. The tours are in lieu of the General Reception and will give everyone the chance to check out some of the cities hidden gems while in Taipei.   During the bus ride to your final destination you will receive a box dinner for your enjoyment. All tours will take place on Tuesday, June 19th. Buses will depart from TICC starting at 5:30pm and space is limited.

Note: During the registration process you will be asked the following questions:
Sex: Male or Female
Passport Number
Choice of Meal: Chinese/Japanese, Sandwich, or Vegetarian

Jiufen

Once the mountain town abandoned after digging gold fever subsided, Jiufen is bustling again and has attracted international tourists with its unparalleled old town aura and natural scenes by the sea. The small town features fascinating small lanes and alleys that snake around the cobblestone old street filled with classic teashops and souvenir stores. Tourists flood to Jiufen to get a taste of the famous “Spirited Away” by Hayao Miyazak and the “City of Sadness” by Hou Hsiao-Hsien. Don’t miss the famous taro balls among other traditional Taiwanese snacks when you are here.

Shifen

With its intersection of the old street built to connect with the railways, Shifen Old Streets is a hub for travelers curious about exploring authentic railroad town in Taiwan and the go-to site for pop star’s video shooting. You can experience interesting “train passing by doorways” and the fun of shopping besides the railway tracks, stroll along the eateries or buy a “Shifen(very) happy” postcard and send to yourself in the future. With the instruction of vendors, you can also write your wishes on a sky lantern to send bless to your friends and families to the sky.

Tamsui

Tamsui boasts not only a mixture of Spanish, Japanese, Fujianese, and native Taiwanese buildings, it also features amazing sunset along its riverside street full of modern cafes, seafood stalls, souvenir shops and street performers. You can get a taste of the famous local snack A-ge, or enjoy the plum juice while strolling along the river in the summer breeze.

Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf

6:30-7:30pm
Fisherman’s Wharf’s sunset view is considered as one of the eight must-see sceneries of Tamsui. Fisherman’s Wharf’s Lover’s Bridge, the changes of light projecting on it, and the long wooden boardwalk make it the best place for couples and families to relax and enjoy their night time.

Shilin Night Market

7:30-9:30pm
Shilin Night Market is the largest and most popular night market in Taipei. Its food court offers traditional eateries that you cannot miss such as oyster omelets, deep-fried seafood and Taiwanese sausages, while hundreds of vendors offer a wide array of fusion snacks, fashionable clothing, and retro toys along the street sides.
