A Sentiment Analysis Dashboard of Covid-19 Tweets

Monday, April 12, 3:35-4:15pm EDT

Our research focuses on the analysis and visualization of users’ tweets about Covid-19 in 2020. We first had to collect the tweets, without having to pay a third party. The standard Twitter API is free but one can search/fetch past tweets for only the past 7 days from when you start searching. That was a big limitation, as we wanted to make data collection and analysis ongoing. In this presentation, we will cover the steps we took to build a dynamic data collection process and a real time analysis and visualization dashboard for tweets with the keyword “Covid-19”. The steps in this analysis laid the foundation for potential future sentiment analysis with any keyword. In the presentation, we will give details on each step, the challenges we faced, future work, and examples of how such a sentiment analysis visualization can be applied by any company and on any keyword.
