Updates on GAMS

GAMS is my favorite modeling language. Here’s some updates from the developers:

On Sunday, October 22, from 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm folks at GAMS will give a talk on “High Performance Computing with GAMS” in session SD77 – room 372F. BEAM-ME is a project addressing the need for new and improved solution approaches for energy system models of vast size. The folks will show some extensions to the GAMS language and new solution algorithms that exploit the block structure and utilize HPC environments (e.g. supercomputers with ten thousands nodes).

On Tuesday, October 24, from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm folks at GAMS will give a talk on “Embedded Code in GAMS – Using Python as an Example” in session TB74 – room 372C: This talk is about a recent extension of the GAMS “Embedded Code” facility that allows to mix GAMS and Python code, so that the user can concentrate on the task at hand and not the mechanics of moving data in and out of GAMS.
