Pro Bono Analytics Micro-Volunteering: Giving back to our host city
Help us Help Phoenix’s Homeless
In Arizona, nearly 30% of the population is considered working poor, living on wages that barely cover housing and other basic necessities and have little money to spare for food. This difficult standard of living has left over 36,000 people homeless and unsure of where their next meal will be coming from.
In the spirit of “Smart City and Sustainable Communities,” INFORMS Pro Bono Analytics has partnered with St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, a food bank and distribution network, and coordinated a volunteering initiative for the INFORMS Annual Meeting Attendees to build meal bags for Phoenix’s homeless population helping make a positive impact in our host city. As much as we need a just a few minutes of our attendees time building the kits, this effort to give back cannot be possible without the financial support of our members and conference community.
We need your help! Your support will allow us to purchase necessary items and build meal bags that will be distributed on the streets of Phoenix to those who need them most. See the full list of items that we will be purchasing here.
Helping St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance
St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance is a community of individual donors, corporate donors, private grants, and volunteers just like you that help feed hungry individuals and families two-thirds of Arizona’s 15 counties. They serve to alleviate hunger through the gathering and distribution of food while encouraging self-sufficiency, collaboration, advocacy, and education.

Coffee with a Member
This wonderful program connects INFORMS students with some of INFORMS most enthusiastic members for 15-minute impromptu meetings and some sage INFORMS advice. We know the Annual Meeting can be a bit overwhelming and hope these casual meetings will make students more comfortable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about both the meeting and INFORMS. Limited space available and open to first time attendees/participants only.
Especially great for INFORMS student members! Students may enroll when they register for the meeting.
