5 Core Virtues of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
As Epictetus said, “One cannot learn what they think they already know.” So to both the human AND the machine, I submit that the following “5 Core Virtues in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence are as follows… meaning these are as much a consideration for how and why algorithms are done by a meaty brain as much as they are done by the silicon brain.
-Be adaptive to situations and recover quickly.
-Take responsibility for results.
-You and your results are the product of what you endure and how you learn.
-Continual learning and adaptability is a form of humility.
-Recognize and engineer outcomes that appreciate how little we can know or control.
-Give no thought to being the smartest person in the room.
-Instead, obsess in being the person who the most productive, getting stuff done in new and brilliant ways.
-Welcome and work with complexity, diversity, and change.
-Read critically, analyze data, and formulate ideas.
-Then write clearly, cleanly, and reasonably to build healthy solutions for society.
-Recognizing and sharing the feelings of others differentiates good from great.
-There is no direction without perceiving, discerning, understanding, and having compassion.
