Chief Data Analytics Officer for U.S. Army Futures Command
Lieutenant Colonel Cade Saie is the Chief Data Analytics Officer for Army Futures Command, a new Army Command established to drive the Army into the future and achieve clear overmatch in future conflicts. In his role he leads a 20 person team focused on providing a data-enabled environment for the commander to make data-driven decisions in order to achieve its mission. The directorate works with various open source tools to provide the command and staff with analytics along a wide range of subjects. Prior to this assignment, he established and led the command’s data science team for U.S. Army Cyber Command. Lieutenant Colonel Saie has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Norwich University and a M.S. in Systems Engineering and PhD in Operations Research from the Air Force Institute of Technology.

Starting from Scratch – An Army “start-up”
New organizations and companies are created every day in the private sector, however, in the public sector this is much rarer. The creation of Army Futures Command was the most significant Army reorganization since 1973. The concept of the command is simple, build a better Army for years to come through harnessing artificial intelligence and big data analysis to quickly process information and identify trends that will shape modernization efforts. This presentation will the share lessons learned starting from scratch and address the pitfalls associated with developing an enduring strategy and capability for a command managing a $30 plus billion modernization portfolio from day one.
