Recruiting and Developing Generation Z: An Innovative Mixed-methods Approach

Wednesday, April 14, 1-1:40pm EDT

“Generation Z”, currently aged 11 to 25 is considered to be different from preceding generations in many meaningful ways. Anecdotal evidence points to major shifts in life priorities, values, aptitude, communication patterns, health, and wellbeing of American youth in the past decade. Major organizations in both business and government understand that to meet their future manpower requirements, they need to adjust their approach to attract and develop Generation Z youth. Using an innovative approach combining data analysis, agent-based simulation, stakeholder interviews and literature meta-analysis we formulated a set of recommendations to better understand training and recruiting and to mitigate challenges related to characteristics of Generation Z recruits.
