With the popping of champagne bottles and the cutting of cake Monday evening, INFORMS officially introduced and celebrated the publication of the INFORMS Analytics Body of Knowledge or INFORMS ABOK.
An ABOK is a comprehensive compilation of core concepts and skills with which a professional in a specific discipline would be expected to be familiar. The INFORMS ABOK aims to provide a framework for understanding what analytics is, what analytics is not, what analytics can do, and what analytics cannot do, for people at all levels of familiarity with the discipline.
James Cochran, professor at the University of Alabama and winner of the 2018 INFORMS President’s Award served as the founding editor of the INFORMS ABOK.
“This publication is the culmination of over two years of effort by dozens of individuals, each of whom provided an important contribution to the current edition of the INFORMS ABOK,” said Cochran.
Chapter authors represent a broad range of analytics experiences and backgrounds, and each provided their unique and insightful perspective on analytics. INFORMS ABOK chapters include:
Introduction to Analytics
Getting Started with Analytics
The Analytics Team
Deployment & Life Cycle Management
The Blossoming Analytics Talent Pool: An Overview of the Analytics Ecosystem
